Hi! I’m Silvia, Founder and Lead Planner at A La Sil Events! Born and raised in Bulgaria, I was influenced by the event and hospitality industry at a young age being around my dad who was a Food & Beverage Manager in a resort.
After finishing my Master’s Degree in International Tourism at the University of Economics in Varna, I started working in the hospitality industry. I tried different positions until I discovered my passion for event planning and management. I worked as a Marketing and Events Specialist in a 5-star hotel until 2014, when my husband and I took a leap of faith and moved to Canada with our two young daughters. Right away, I started working in the hospitality and event industry in Vancouver, where I spent 4 and a half years, moving on to Calgary in 2018, where I’ve created valuable connections and gained extensive knowledge of event planning, logistics coordination, food & beverage and production management.
In 2017, I obtained an Event Management Certificate from BCIT (British Columbia Institute of Technology), and in 2019- a CMP Designation (Certified Meeting Professional), managed by the Events Industry Council.
After more than 14 years working in the event industry – planning, managing and executing a multitude of corporate and social events, I fulfilled a dream of mine by launching A La Sil Events and dedicating my time to designing and creating curated, unique and memorable experiences reflecting my clients’ vision, dreams and values.
